S.W.A.A.T. Initiative – Supporting Women to Access Appropriate Treatment

S.W.A.A.T. (Supporting Women to Access Appropriate Treatment) is an initiative to strengthen local service provider’s capacity to respond to the needs of women impacted by substance use.

The S.W.A.A.T. project offers supports to young women and mothers impacted by substance use, local service providers, and the wider community in Ballyfermot and Tallaght.

S.W.A.A.T. is ran by Ballyfermot STAR GCL and supported by Tallaght & Ballyfermot Local Drug and Alcohol Task Forces.

This initiative aims to strengthen local service provider’s capacity to respond to the needs of women impacted by substance use. This project aims to reduce stigma associated with women’s help seeking for issues relating to substance use and to signpost women to appropriate services and support networks. The S.W.A.A.T. Project will provide clear communication to women about services that are available to them and improve outcomes for women in the local community.
